The secret behind Coffee Perfection’s intense freshness

If you line up a group of coffee lovers and ask the first thing they look for in a good brew, nine times out of 10 they’ll say it’s the aroma. (There’s always one who goes for the caffeine hit!)

At Coffee Perfection we know you value the whole experience — from the presentation, to the aroma, to the taste, and (when possible) the chat. We work especially hard on delivering that rich, aromatic sensory hit, the wave of anticipation and satisfaction that you’ve made the right choice as soon as you open one of our bags.

Perfect freshness in every bag

How do we do it? Well, let us worry about the technicalities while all you need to do is open the bag. Many of you know that oxygen is pretty useful to us humans, but it’s coffee’s worst enemy. As soon as coffee beans are roasted, the wonderful oils that give coffee its alluring aroma and flavour are vulnerable to oxidation in air — more oxygen, less taste. The solution? Get rid of the oxygen and we can lock in the intense flavours and aromas.

Most artisan roasters don’t have the proper equipment to expel oxygen from their bags, so they recommend using their coffee within four weeks of roasting. We do things differently at Coffee Perfection, with an innovative gas/nitro flush process. We won’t go into the finer technical details, but here’s the only thing you need to know.

The (simplified) science bit

Our in-house machine flushes each package of coffee with the inert gas nitrogen, which displaces oxygen from the bag. As the oxygen is expelled from the package, we put the brakes on the oxidation process, keeping all those important oils stabilised, and preserving the distinctive aromas and flavours. Our coffee has a far longer shelf life, stays fresh for longer, and you’ll be captivated by that sensory reward as soon as you break the seal. And all because of a power play between nitrogen and oxygen — that’s gas!

Once you open, what next?

Even if you’re an obsessive coffee head, you probably don’t have a state-of-the-art nitrogen expulsion system at home — but we have the next best thing for maintaining that all-important freshness. Our Espresso Gear airtight container uses a patented mechanism to remove all the oxygen, keeping your coffee (or tea) at optimum freshness. Simply press the button on the cap, and it forces air out and creates a perfect seal. Ideal for the home or a quality coffee shop.

Now that the mini science lesson is over, we reckon you deserve a brew!
